Sound Therapy

Sound Therapy involves the use of sound waves in a therapeutic way to improve wellbeing and can involve a variety of techniques. The Little Healing Garden offers two different modalities of Sound Therapy:-

Sound Bath

Sound Bath uses a combination of sound emitting instruments including Singing Bowls, and various other percussion, string and woodwind instruments to bring about profound relaxation for the client, helping to reduce stress, improve sleep quality, enhance mental clarity, and restore inner balance.

Tuning Fork Therapy

Tuning Fork therapy is a very gentle yet powerful modality to treat the body and mind. The subtle vibrations from the tuning forks, placed both on or above the body help to restore balance within the body's energy centres ( Chakras), calm the nervous system, and increase the flow of vital energy which is essential to healing.

Reiki

Reiki is a Japanese energy healing technique that can improve overall wellbeing. Reiki is a gentle form of energy healing which helps to restore balance to the mind, body and emotions by removing blockages within the body's energy system, realigning the Chakras and restoring balance to the flow of energy (Chi) through the physical body and energy field. It can assist in treating mental, physical and emotional trauma and increase overall energy levels. Reiki induces a deep sense of relaxation, can reduce stress and can help with other related health issues such as anxiety and depression, promoting an overall improvement in general wellbeing. Receiving Reiki is deeply relaxing and comforting, some clients describe a feeling of profound inner peace and happiness.

Traditional Thai Foot Massage

Traditional Thai Foot Massage incorporates elements of acupressure, reflexology and massage, focussing on the energy lines ( Sen/ Meridians) of the lower legs and feet. By working along these lines with pressure and by stretching the lines, blocked energy can be released and the internal functions balanced, much like the practice of Accupuncture. It is believed that blockages within the body's energy flow will ultimately result in stagnation, pain, illness and disease. Traditional Thai Foot Massage can be effective in restoring the energy flow and relieving various dysfunctions and disorders, but also as a wonderful treatment to promote overall health, increasing energy, and providing a gentle sense of wellbeing. Traditional Thai Foot Massage is received while the client is fully clothed ( from knee upwards), lying comfortably on the therapy bed.

Tibetan Singing Bowl

Sound Therapy

Sound Therapy is a form of sensory therapy that focuses on the use of sound to restore healthy vibrations in the human body with the aim of promoting better health. Science recognises that everything in our Universe is energy vibrating at different frequencies. Sound Therapy is the practice of using these frequencies of sound waves to restore and balance the energy of the human body as the sound passes through it.

The roots of Sound Therapy are thought to originate in Tibetan and Himalayan cultures. In ancient civilisations such as Ancient Greeks, Egyptians, Indians and Chineses sound was revered for its powerful effect on the mind, body and spirit.

Indigenous cultures across the world have long recognised the therapeutic properties of sound. The first known use of music and sound as a therapy and healing tool is the Didgeridoo used by the Australian Aborigines and dates back over 40,000 years.

Shamanic traditions such as those found in Native American and African cultures incorporated various modalities of sound to enter trance state, commune with spirit and facilitate physical and emotional healing.
These traditions recognised that sound could reach deep within the human psyche, bringing about profound transformation and improving wellbeing. Sadly for many of us living the modern world we are constantly bombarded with stressors from the pressures of life that knock our bodies out of its natural rythym, creating blockages in our energy bodies and eventually taking its toll on our wellbeing.

The Little Healing Garden specialises in two different modalities of Sound Therapy:-

Sound Bath.

A Sound Bath is a deeply immersive full body experience that intentionally uses Soundwaves to invite gentle yet powerful therapeutic and restorative vibrations to nurture the mind, body and spirit. A Sound Bath is experienced fully clothed and lying in a comfortable warm position on the therapy bed or cushioned mat on the floor. After a few minutes of guided focus on the breath the remainder of the session is filled with a variety of sounds, tones and vibrational frequencies. The sounds are created using a variety of sound emitting instruments, including Singing Bowls and various other percussion, string, and woodwind instruments to bring about profound relaxation and helping to wash away any stress or tension, improve sleep quality, enhance mental clarity and instill a feeling of inner peace and balance.

Tuning Fork Therapy.

Tuning Fork Therapy involves full body vibrational entrainment using tuning forks, which when struck vibrate at specific frequencies that match the natural resonant  frequencies of a healthy human body. This treatment is received fully clothed and lying comfortably on the therapy bed. By placing the gentle vibrations of the forks on or near the body, any areas of the body that have become 'out of tune' if you like are brought back into balance, back into harmony, through entrainment.  The treatment focuses on the energy centres  of the body ( Chakras)  however the forks are also effective for pain relief, stress reduction, insomnia and releasing tension from the physical body therefore treatments are adapted to suit clients needs.

Crown Chakra

Reiki

Reiki means ‘ Universal Life Force Energy’ it originates from Japan and dates back to the teachings of Mikao Usui in 1920’s. Reiki is a gentle form of energy healing which is received laying in the therapy bed.

Reiki is channelled through the therapist to the client by means of a non-intrusive gentle touch and is deeply relaxing. Reiki helps to restore balance to the mind, body and emotions by removing blockages from the body’s energy system and realigning the chakras.

It restores balance to the flow of energy (Chi) throughout the energetic field and the physical body and can assist in treating mental, physical and emotional trauma. Reiki induces a sense of deep relaxation, reduces stress and allows the body to heal itself promoting an overall improvement in general wellbeing.

Indian Head Massage

Indian Head Massage

Indian head massage is based on the Ayurvedic system of healing which has been practiced in India for over a thousand years. The aim of the Indian head massage is to release stress that has accumulated in the tissues, muscles and joints of the head, face, neck and shoulders.

The client sits in the massage chair with their head supported in a cradle while the therapist uses a range of massage techniques, including kneading and compression over the upper back, neck, shoulders, upper arms and scalp. The client then relaxes on the therapy bed while the therapist gentle stimulates and strokes pressure points on the face.

Indian head massage is especially good for relieving stress, tension, fatigue, insomnia, headaches, migraine and sinusitis.

The experience is deep relaxing, leaving the client feeling energised and revitalised, and better able to concentrate.
